A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after an accident on State Highway 2 near Waihi at about 7.30pm on Sunday.
Responding to the incident St John medical staff from Tauranga were flown to the scene on the TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter.

Rescue helicopter manager Liam Brettkelly says the 41 year old Waihi man received serious head injuries and multiple fractures and was flown to Waikato Hospital.
He says the man lost control on a bend and was the only person involved in the accident.
