Bashed taxi driver speaks out

Tauranga taxi driver Mohinder Singh says he cried out for help as he was being attacked on Sunday morning.
The attack occurred when he was attempting to get a male passenger to pay his fare for a ride from downtown Tauranga to an address on Darraghs Road in Otumoetai.

Mohinder Singh is recovering after he was brutally attacked on Sunday morning.

The passenger got out of the taxi and began to attack him, says Mohinder.
"I tried to close the door but he ripped it back open."
The man did not get away with any money, but Mohinder believes he was unfairly targeted - possibly because of his ethnicity.
Fellow Tauranga Mount Taxi colleagues were visiting Mohinder at his home on Monday.
They are calling for the government to introduce legislation to allow security shields in taxis.
A 20 year old man has been arrested in connection to the attack and appeared in Tauranga District Court on Monday.

Mohinder believes he was unfairly targeted

This beating has nothing to do with being unfairly targeted. These men that do this are crazy. People throughout society are having to put up with it because those that do it are being released back into society by judges, corrections, psychiatrists, psychologists, in a worst state than they were the last time they were locked up. We need to make these people [those that let them out into our communities ] accountable for their actions. We also need to increase the moral standards of society, right across the board to combat, slow down, and halt this increase in violence. Those in charge currently have failed miserable to do anything about the problem. Morals For A Modern World http://www.psychosomatic-healing.co.nz/twth-precepts.html We live in a world of many divergent views religious beliefs, factions, ethnics. Who can agree? What if we could all agree on moral precepts that were common to all cultures? A code that creates bonds between all ethnics and races. A code for all men.
