Traffic lights at the intersection of Golf Road and Oceanbeach Road are expected to be activated on Tuesday morning.
Prompted in part by residents' concerns about the safety of pedestrians crossing to the shops near Surf Road, the lights are part of a package that includes a pedestrian crossing providing safer access to the shops, and the Omanu Surf Life Saving Club.
The Golf Road lights begin operation on Monday.
The initial turn-on is expected to be followed by some tinkering with the phasing.
