Speed dating for business

It's like speed dating for business at TRENZ this week, where Tourism Bay of Plenty has repeated short bursts to sell the region to overseas travel industry businesses.
TRENZ is New Zealand's largest travel expo, where this year, as well as browsing time, stall holders will have 15 minutes with some 52 attending companies.

Tourism BOP general manager Tim Burgess is bracing for business' version of speed dating at TRENZ.

In these short stints, Tourism Bay of Plenty general manager Tim Burgess has the task of exciting overseas companies to take-up the region as a holiday destination.
Tim says the 52 meetings are pre-scheduled so he knows what companies he will meet.
"We do hope the expo will have a good flow on of international visitors to the region," says Tim.
Four Western Bay of Plenty tourism operators will be at the event, which started on Monday and finishes on Thursday.
Tourism Industry Association CEO Tim Cossar says 270 international travel agencies will be at the expo.
"We are very excited about the prospects for this year's event as the world emerges from recession and consumers become more confident," says Tim.
