A woman has sustained critical injuries after her car rolled on State Highway 2 between Katikati and Waihi, near the Athenree Gorge.
Fire fighters are attending the incident to free her and once free, police say she will be taken to Tauranga Hospital.
Half of SH2 is closed with north bound traffic being redirected through Waihi Beach and south bound traffic flow with a very low speed restriction.
