Busy feet at Bayfair

The Christmas shopping season is likely to reap good sales figures for Bayfair Shopping Centre retailers, if the mall's foot traffic counters are anything to go by.
The mall's electronic meters counted 900 new people entering the mall each hour between 11am and 3pm on Boxing Day.

Each year more than five million people enter the mall and last December proved a good one for Bayfair with over 623,000 people stepping through its doors. This was up one per cent compared with December 2008.
Bayfair operations manager Steve Ellingford says this good performance continued into January with the foot traffic on the first three days of that month up six per cent when compared with the first three days of January 2009.
On Sunday, January 3, Steve says Bayfair had a 'massive day” with more than 21,000 people through the door.
Steve says an additional significant increase for Bayfair was in the pre-Christmas sales of its gift vouchers. He says sales of mall wide vouchers were up 19 per cent in December with great interest shown in them online, both internationally and nationally.
