Vehicle rolls on Takitimu Drive, lanes blocked

Update, 3.40pm: Emergency services are attending a crash on Takitimu Drive in Tauranga between Elizabeth Street and the Waihi Road off-ramp.

Police say the crash was reported around 3.25pm.

"Two vehicles are reported to have collided, with one hitting the medium barrier and rolling over," says a police spokesperson.

"Traffic management has been requested to be put in place at the scene."

At this stage there are no reports of any injuries.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to delay travel, or take an alternative route.

Earlier, 3.30pm: Emergency services are responding to a vehicle crash on Takitimu Drive in Tauranga.

A SunLive reader reports that there is a car upside down on the expressway between 11th Avenue and Elizabeth Street roundabout.

"There is a fire engine just arriving," says the SunLive reader.

It is understood that some motorists are helping to direct traffic.

Tauranga Transport Centre says that emergency services are now on scene.

"Vehicle has rolled. Lanes [are] blocked at this stage." says a Tauranga Transport Centre spokesperson.

It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries.

Traffic is reported to be heavily building up along Takitimu Drive in the southbound lane between Elizabeth Street and  11th Ave.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to delay travel, or take an alternative route.
